MANILA, Philippines—Barangay Ginebra head coach Tim Cone isn’t giving up on center Greg Slaughter just yet.

Slaughter posted on his Instagram account that he’d be taking an indefinite break following the expiration of his contract with the Gin Kings.

Cone, however, would rather sit down with Slaughter first before anything gets finalized.

“I am out of town at the moment and I don’t have any news of Greg at this time,” said Cone in a story on the PBA website. “We plan to speak with him and his agent over the next couple of days.”

The 7-foot Slaughter helped the Gin Kings win four titles and was even named the Best Player of the Conference in the 2017 Governors’ Cup and Rookie of the Year in 2014.

There were several conferences, however, where Slaughter had to miss out a considerable amount of games due to different injuries.

“Now that my contract has expired, I’ve decided to take a break to be able to work on myself in all aspects,” wrote Slaughter on Instagram Saturday. “I may not know what the future holds, but one thing is for sure, the best is yet to come.”
