Kim Mangrobang still has a slim chance of making it to the Tokyo Olympics. But the country is working on getting her a free pass, just in case.

Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) president Tom Carrasco told the Inquirer on Sunday that they are hoping to obtain one of the two “invitation places for nations with a developing triathlon scene.”

If successful, TRAP will hand it to the three-time Southeast Asian Games champion.

Mangrobang, 28, has been training for three years in Portugal. She just recently won golds in the individual and mixed events of the SEA Games, and is competing extensively in the European circuit.

But her numbers are still far at 136th and with ranking points of 489.29. Only the top 51 athletes per gender make it outright to the Tokyo Games. INQ
