La Filipina empowers Filipino sports teams to sprint towards athletic dreams
La Filipina, the Philippines’ sole producer of local premium corned pork, has staged a benefit fun run to support various sports teams in the country.
La Filipina’s “Power Up Run” will take place on February 23 at Fort Santiago, Intramuros, Manila. Proceeds from the event will go to selected Philippine teams in volleyball, basketball, Sepak Takraw, Dragon Boat, and dance group.
Apart from promoting tourism, history, health, and fitness, the local food brand aims to drum up support for Filipino athletes who can readily represent the country in world competition, although hampered by meager financial support from public and private organizations.
Danika Co, Brand Manager of La Filipina, said the company believes in the enormous potential of Filipino athletes.
“We like to encourage both athletes and non-athletes to help support the cause of La Filipina in supporting Filipino sports teams,” Co said.
La Filipina’s protein-rich and milk-infused meat products, such as Corned Pork or Luncheon Meat, also aid in this endeavor to empower Filipino athletes. Unlike other canned meat goods, the company’s products do not use extenders and trans fats, giving players a healthier option for optimum athletic performance.
The benefit marathon has 4 distance run categories: 1.5K, 3K, 5K, and 10K, with race fees of Php500, Php550, Php650, and Php760, respectively. All participants will receive a singlet, race bib, and finisher’s medal, while participants of the 5K and 10K run will get a shirt and a La Filipina loot bag.
To register, check out La Filipina’s official Facebook page. You may also visit Chris Sports, the company’s official on-site registration partner, at its selected branches in Robinsons Place Ermita, SM Manila, SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, SM North-Annex, and Market! Market!.
