Dr. Rogelio Marcial, M. D., father of PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial, passed away on Sunday morning, leaving behind a legacy of service to the less privileged as a “Doktor Ng Bayan” in conducting free clinics with the Batangas Medical Society and the Lions Club.
Dr. Marcial, 82, was born in Batangas City and earned his medical degree at University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center before serving his residency at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio in the United States. He was chair of Internal Medicine at St. Patrick’s Hospital Medical Center in Batangas City and received patients in his private clinic.
An avid sportsman, Dr. Marcial was a member of the Batangas Rifle and Pistol Group. He was a past director of the Lyceum of the Philippines, among other posts.
Dr. Marcial is survived by his wife, Corazon, only child Willie, and grandchildren. Wake is at Trinity Mortuary Chapel, Pallocan West, Batangas City. Interment is on Feb. 21.
