PH squad rising in Asia
Philippine polo continues to rise in Asia, thanks to impressive performances like a bronze-medal finish in the last Southeast Asian Games and a runner-up effort in the recent fifth All Asia Cup in Thailand that saw the Filipinos score a vengeful win over Indonesia in the semifinals to make the title game.
The Philippines was ousted by the Indonesians in the Games last December, but scored an 8-5.5 victory in their return match. The Filipinos bowed to Thailand in the championship, 7.5-4.
“Up against some of the best teams in the Asian region, we proved we can be at par with them,” said Mikee Romero, the president of the Philippine National Federation of Polo Players.
