ABL: Saigon Heat stuns San Miguel Beermen
MANILA, Philippines — Saigon heat stunned San Miguel, 66-63, and ended the Beermen’s five-win streak Saturday in the Asean Basketball League at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig.
The Heat, who nailed their fourth victory with nine losses, got the right breaks despite missing half of the attempts from the line down the stretch.
Import Jahmar Thorpe made his second freethrow to give Saigon a three-point breather with eight ticks remaining even as San Miguel’s Froilan Baguion missed a triple attempt at the buzzer.

San Miguel, which shot horribly from downtown by going 6-of-30, dropped to 10-4 and remains behind AirAsia Philippine Patriots (10-2) in the standings.
Leo Avenido, who exploded for 33 points in the Beermen’s victory over Bangkok last week , finished with 17 points.
