NU edges UST in 5 sets, spoils EJ Laure’s return

MANILA, Philippines — National University outlasted University of Santo Tomas, 22-25, 25-23, 20-25, 25-20, 15-13, Wednesday to jumpstart its bid in the UAAP Season 82 women’s volleyball tournament at Mall of Asia Arena.

Rookie Margot Mutshima scored 23 points, including crucial hits in the fifth set to power the Lady Bulldogs, who last year missed the Final Four cut.

Ivy Lacsina and returning Risa Sato added 19 and 17 points, respectively for NU.

Sisters Eya and EJ Laure led the Tigresses with 20 and 17 points, respectively. Imee Hernandez chipped in 18 for UST.
