Tsitsipas, Greece cruise to 3-1 lead vs PH in Davis Cup

MANILA, Philippines — Stefanos Tsitsipas scored a decisive victory over Jeson Patrombon, 6-2, 6-1, Saturday to hand Greece an insurmountable 3-1 lead in the Davis Cup World Group 2 playoff at Philippine Columbian Association.

The World No. 6 rained down five aces and played steadily against Patrombon to secure the tie after the Filipinos managed to run away with the doubles match.

Earlier, Francis Casey Alcantara and Ruben Gonzales staved off a shutout when they defeated Markos Kalovelonis and Petros Tsitsipas, 7-6 (5), 6-4.

The Filipinos converted three of seven breakpoint opportunities, imposed their familiarity with the courts against the the visitors flustered by the heat inside the Philippine Columbian Association courts.
