MANILA, Philippines—National University remained perfect after turning back Adamson University in straight sets, 26-24, 25-15, 25-21, in the UAAP Season 82 women’s volleyball tournament Sunday at Mall of Asia Arena.
The Lady Bulldogs were in control for most of the match and never loosened their grip on the lead they built until the end of the match.
Chinnie Arroyo finished the game with an off-the-block kill to give NU its second straight win while the Lady Falcons dropped their season opener.
NU head coach Norman Miguel said getting two wins in as many games is a big confidence boost to his players.
“Of course we’re happy that we got our second win for this season and this is really inspiring because we already got two just after two games unlike before when we got our first win in our second game,” said Miguel in Filipino.
“This is a morale booster for the team and this will motivated our players to work harder in our succeeding games.”
Audrey Paran led all scorers with 15 points for NU while Margot Mutshima played support with 13.
Although Adamson outscored NU, 32-28, in spikes, the Lady Bulldogs had other scoring departments in the bag with a big 13-5 lead in blocks and 10-5 edge in service aces.
Trisha Genesis had 12 points to lead Adamson while Lorene Toring added 11.
