Kaya salvages draw in Jakarta

Eric Giganto scored his second goal in the 2020 AFC Cup as Kaya-Iloilo salvaged a 1-1 draw with PSM Makassar in their Group F clash at Madya Stadium in Jakarta on Tuesday.

In a match played in a closed stadium as a precaution against the COVID-19, the Davao de Oro-born striker got on the end off a cross from substitute Arnel Amita, glancing home a header past Hilman Syah in the 50th minute.

The two homegrown stars, who spent their collegiate careers at Far Eastern U, also combined for the second goal in Kaya’s 2-0 win over Shan United on Match Day One last month. The point pushed Kaya’s tally to five points, one ahead of PSM, which played the last 80 minutes with only 10 men following Dedi Gusmawan’s red card. The hosts opened the scoring in the 22nd minute through Osas Saha, who slotted the ball past Michael Casas after receiving a through ball from midfield. Meanwhile, Ceres-Negros battles Indonesian champion Bali United on Wednesday night in Group G at Rizal Memorial Stadium. INQ
