Frayna stuns Docena, tows faves in nat’l age-group tilt

JANELLE  Mae Frayna tripped top seed and fellow Woman National Master Jedara Docena  to share the lead in the  2012 Gov. Oscar S. Moreno National Age Group chess championships at the Provincial capitol ground in Cagayan de Oro City.

Frayna, the reigning national girls’ titlist and leg winner of the girls’ 16-under class in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, notched her second straight point to stay tied with Nikki Erica Yngayo in the Girls 20-Under category.

Local bet Lennon Hart Salgados bested Jesse John Orlanda to share the lead with McDominique Lagula (Nueva Ecija), John Christian Lesaca (Davao City) and Joshua Salcedo(CDO) in the boys 20-Under with two points apiece.

Ronald Canino and Andrix Josh Felisilda garnered  two points to lead the boys 10-Under category of the tournament organized by the Provincial government headed by Gov. Oscar Moreno and the National Chess Federation of the Philippines.

In the boys 12-Under, Romeo Canino and Gian Patrick Espiritu of Misamis Oriental also posted two points to tie with John Marvin Miciano of Davao and Valerio Mangubat of Kanlaon, Negros Oriental.

Methusellah Ramos, also of Cagayan de Oro City,  trounced Althea Nicole Borres and Jillian Faith Tacugue for  the solo lead in the girls 8-under category.

Me Ann Joy Baclayon and Mary Joy Tan shared the lead with Amber Juneeza Ambor  and Jesrelle Ruiz in the girls 10-under section, while Bhea Buenecal and Vanessa Magno tied Vic Glysen Derotas in the 12-under category.

In the girls under-16, Alyssa Ysaiah Jamaca scored two points to emerge solo leader. Glaiza Canoy and Ella Grace Moulic also posted 2.0 points in the girls 14-under category .
