MANILA, Philippines—PBA Rookie of the Year continues to make an impact, this time outside the basketball floor.
Columbian’s franchise player is donating P25,000 to the PBA personnel who are affected by the league hiatus due to the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon brought about the COVID-19 pandemic.
The quarantine paralyzed everyday life and thus prompting the PBA to suspend its season indefinitely.
“Bigger than the game, teammates for life,” posted Perez on Instagram Thursday. “I’m donating P25,000 to our PBA Family.”
Perez and fiancé Sienna Catacutan also decided to postpone their wedding due to the enhanced community quarantine.
“Damn Coronavirus!” posted Perez. “In light of the recent situation, we would like to let our friends and family know that we are postponing our wedding. Stay safe guys.”
Perez’ donation is the latest of help from PBA personalities to help the league’s game-day contractual employees.
Alaska head coach Jeffrey Cariaso already pledged to donate P100,000 with players such as Kiefer Ravena, Harvey Carey, Chris Ross, Cliff Hodge, and Nico Salva all putting in contributions.
