MANILA, Philippines—The PBA on Friday announced that its game-day personnel will be taken care off during the enhanced community quarantine put on Luzon due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Contractual employees don’t have guaranteed monthly wages and are instead given daily salaries during game days, but PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said the personnel will be compensated even while the league’s suspended.

“Even before this problem reached its peak, the PBA Board decided that we won’t abandon our people,” said Marcial in Filipino in the league’s official website Friday.

Statisticians, table officials, gatekeepers, entertainment and parking personnel are who help the league keep things running smoothly during their game-days.

“We’re helping them. They’re part of the PBA family and we won’t leave them behind. Until there’s a problem, we’re there to help. Even if the league’s suspended for two or three months, we will help.”

Alaska head coach Jeffrey Cariaso was one of the first personalities outside of the PBA Office to lend help after he pledged P100,00 to be donated to contractual personnel.

Players like Chris Ross, Cliff Hodge, Kiefer Ravena, CJ Perez, Harvey Carey, and Nico Salva also presented their help, among others.
