MANILA, Philippines—San Miguel Beer guard Terrence Romeo lent a much-needed helping hand to frontliners battling against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic after donating food packs, and thousands of articles of personal protective equipment to five hospitals on Saturday.

According to a source, Romeo plans to donate to three more medical institutions including Far Eastern University-Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation.

The former FEU star, the source said, has already donated to various hospitals since the start of the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon last week and that he had initially intended to donate to five institutions.

“The original plan was just five hospitals but there were people who sent out messages to him so he decided to donate to more institutions,” said the source in Filipino.

It’s estimated that Romeo has donated 12,000 pairs of surgical gloves, 12,000 surgical face masks, 5,000 rolls of tissue paper, and 1,000 bottles of alcohol.

The source said that it was Romeo and his wife’s initiative to donate to hospitals amid the COVID-19 crisis that has engulfed the Philippines in a state of uncertainty.

Maxinne Dompor M.D. on Saturday tweeted about Romeo’s donation to Veterans Memorial Medical Center.

Romeo’s donation drive will continue on Monday.
