MANILA, Philippines—Marc Pingris is helping raise P1 million while being behind the computer screen—a cause aimed at helping the country’s frontliners against the deadly coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
Pingris said the money that will be raised in the “Lockdown Games” event by esports organization Mineski will go to the UP Medical Foundation.
“Let’s join! Aside from having something to do, we’re also supporting the #stayhome campaign of DOH and helping our frontliners,” he said in an Instagram post.
The drive is in support of the #StayHome campaign by the Department of Health which encourages Filipinos to remain inside the confines of their homes and help prevent further transmission of the virus in the country.
The 38-year-old Pingris, one of the most revered players in the PBA, will be in a DOTA2 Showmatch along with his fellow PBA stars June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar and Kiefer Ravena on April 6.
Marvel Super War games will be played from March 24-26 while Call of Duty will begin on March 30 to April 2.
