High-tech Palaro up, says Pangasinan gov

ORGANIZERS of the Palarong Pambansa in Pangasinan are leaving no stone unturned for the successful return to the province of the premier grassroots-based games for the first time since 1995.

Pangasinan Gov. Amado Espino yesterday said the meet, slated May 6 to 12 in the provincial capital of Lingayen, aims to set a new standard in the high-tech information dissemination of results.

Espino said the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center has been spruced up, expanding the seating capacity to 18,000 from the original 13,000 when the Palaro was held there 17 years ago.

The governor added that two more facilities for indoor sports are nearing completion.

“By April 20, everything will be ready for the Games,” Espino said at the PSA Forum presented by Smart, Pagcor and Shakey’s at Shakey’s UN Avenue in Manila.

Among the innovations is the installation of television screens that will allow people to monitor all the events at the Social Media Command Center, Espino said.
