MANILA, Philippines — The PBA vowed that it will extend financial aid to legend Nelson Asaytono who’s recuperating after suffering a heart attack during Holy Week in Cavite.

In a report on the PBA website, Commissioner Willie Marcial was already informed of Asaytono’s status and he assured the league will  assist Asaytono throughout his recovery along with the help of his fellow stars.

“Yes, we will help,” said Marcial in Filipino. “The other legends also talked with each other and they said they’ll help Nelson.”

Asaytono was one of the best forwards during his heyday, winning seven titles while also being included into the Mythical First Team thrice with 10 All-Star Game appearances, and two Best Player of the Conference awards through 17 seasons.

The 53-year-old Asaytono, popularly known as “The Bull” in his playing days, was confined at the intensive care unit in a hospital in General Trias City on Tuesday before being discharged on Saturday.

“We’re making arrangements on how we can give the money because we’re in ECQ (enhanced community quarantine).”
