Volleyball community serves up aid in COVID fight

The rise of volleyball has given some of its top stars a cushy lifestyle reserved for basketball celebrities. In the midst of a global pandemic, those volleyball stars are giving back.

From Jia Morado to Kung Fu Reyes, the volleyball community in the country is doing its part in helping the brave front-liners who are battling the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Volleyball Community Gives Back drive has so far raised a total of P274,747.23, reaching their initial goal of purchasing 750 personal protection equipment to donate to front-liners.

Morado, meanwhile, was one of the first personalities to publicly hold a donation drive that would help purchase medical equipment for the Philippine General Hospital and Jose Reyes Medical Memorial Center.

With the help of her volleyball friends, Morado also launched the Every Little Thing Counts Facebook page that auctioned off volleyball jerseys.

As of Friday, Morado’s campaign earned a total of P784,717.46 from donors and the auction, which was participated in by fans who bid for the jerseys of their favorite players.

Alyssa Valdez, Michele Gumabao, Aby Maraño, Ara Galang, Ish Polvorosa, Kianna Dy, Denden Lazaro, Eya Laure and Imee Hernandez also helped in the effort. INQ
