Muros-Posadas son carving a name for himself

This fruit didn’t fall far from the tree. Track and field legend Elma Muros-Posadas has left her mark in Philippine sports, with 15 Southeast Asian Games gold medals from five athletics disciplines displayed in her trophy case.
Her son, George Michael Posadas Jr., is showing his versatility by excelling not just in track and field, but also in volleyball.
“I think growing up, it was natural for me to be engaged in sports as if it was meant for me,” said the 16-year-old Posadas, whose father is a national track and field coach.
As a left-handed opposite spiker, Posadas has steered Brent International School to three consecutive titles in the League of Southern Manila Schools.He has won medals in basketball, volleyball and track and field for his school in the Asia Pacific Athletic Conference.“My family inspires me to keep working hard to achieve whatever I want in life,” Posadas said. His older sister Klarizze also starred for Brent in athletics, volleyball and basketball before pursuing a degree abroad.
Yet considering the popularity of volleyball nowadays, Posadas leans heavily on being a spiker.
At a young age, Posadas took up a lot of sports, including swimming, tennis and badminton.
The 5-foot-10 high school junior has since captured gold medals for his school in 100-meter, 200-meter, 400-meter and relays.
“I’m still in the process of weighing out whether I should go abroad and study there or stay here in the Philippines and play in the UAAP,” the younger Posadas said.
Either way, there is no doubt that he’s every inch a chip off the old block. INQ
