Josh Taylor hoping for dream fight vs ‘hero’ Manny Pacquiao
There’s no stopping Josh Taylor from his goal to unify the entire super lightweight division.
There is, however, one exception that could force the Scottish boxing champion to push back his plan and fulfill a dream of his instead.
Article continues after this advertisementAn opportunity to fight his hero Manny Pacquiao will be too hard to pass up Taylor, who will have to move up in weight for the bout to happen.
“I would love to fight him,” Taylor told Sky Sports as posted on boxingscene.com, referring to Pacquiao, the WBA (Super) welterweight champion.
“He is my hero, so it would be good to share a ring with him, that would be awesome. It would be good to fight him. That would be a dream come true, to share a ring with Manny Pacquiao.”
Article continues after this advertisementTaylor, who holds the IBF and WBA (Super) super lightweight belts, is undefeated with a record of 16 wins, 12 by knockout.
The 29-year-old southpaw, though, can’t look too far ahead as he is set for a mandatory title defense against unbeaten Thai Apinun Khongsong.
Taylor edged former champion Regis Prograis by majority decision in the World Boxing Super Series final in his last fight six months ago at The O2 Arena in London.
