What else would a young volleyball superstar like Mika Reyes be doing in a lockdown? Why vlogging, of course. And taking part in a cause.
The 25-year-old star had just switched teams from powerhouse Petron to Sta. Lucia Realty before the 2020 season of the Philippine Superliga was canceled by coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
“For the past four years since I left La Salle and entered the pros, this is the longest I have been away from volleyball,” Reyes told the Inquirer.
The 6-foot Reyes said the “long, unexpected pause” has allowed her to enjoy the things that are otherwise blurred by her fast-paced life.
“I get the chance to learn new things like cooking, but I also get to have more time with my family and bond with my siblings,” she added. “I was able to have time for vlogging.”
Reyes recently joined fellow stars and stablemates at Virtual Playground who paid tribute to the front-liners through a music video featuring the original composition “Fly High” by Joven Tan.
“I hope and pray that this pandemic will be over so that we all be safe and embrace the new normal,” Reyes said.
Her fans can hardly wait to see her in action, too. INQ
