MANILA, Philippines — John Fury, father of world heavyweight champion Tyson, issued a challenge to fight former undisputed heavyweight king Mike Tyson.
Fury called out Tyson after the “baddest man on the planet” had said he is interested in making a ring return and do exhibition bouts for charity.
“I’m looking at Mike Tyson,” Fury said in a video posted by Manchesterfightclub on Instagram Thursday. “Mike’s making a comeback; I don’t value my life at 50p but let me tell you something, Mike Tyson is worth doing charity with.
“He’s a proper king of a champion, a proper man tried and tested, not some doorman who I used to practice on as a 14-year-old boy. If I didn’t knock out four or five a night when I was 15 I was disappointed.”
Tyson, 53, has been making headlines again recently after he posted a video of himself viciously punishing the mitts just like how his old self used to when he ripped through his competition and became the youngest heavyweight champion ever at 20 years old.
The 55-year-old Fury, a former boxer himself, is unfazed and determined to get in the ring with Tyson.
“I’ll fight Mike Tyson, he’s making a comeback. I know he mentions my boy’s name every five minutes, but here I am, John Fury is hiding from no man, not even the king of the old men Mike Tyson.
“I will fight Mike Tyson; I will not be denied, I will die in a fight.”
Just last Thursday, another ex-undisputed heavyweight champion in Evander Holyfield announced on Twitter that he’s coming back to do exhibition matches for a cause.
