MANILA, Philippines—The Filoil Flying V Preseason Cup has been the summer staple for Philippine collegiate basketball but with COVID-19 suspending sports indefinitely, the league decided to air reruns on its official Facebook channel instead.
“While waiting for our lives to return to a semblance of normalcy and order, get ready for the Filoil Flying V Preseason Rewind,” the league said in a statement.
Filoil’s 14th season was originally slated to start on May 1 at its namesake arena in San Juan but got suspended with the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) still in effect.
The league, however, is still hopeful that it can still push through with its games as long as the circumstances allow.
“Basketball fans can relive classic matches of their favorite college basketball teams in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Tournament.”
The Filoil Flying V Preseason Rewind will begin on May 11 and will be streamed on facebook.com/ffvsports with games airing daily.
