MANILA, Philippines — Filipino sensation Kai Sotto became the latest prospect to skip college and take the NBA G League route.

The 7-foot-2 Sotto is joining new G League squad Southern California and is teaming up with other prep stars Jalen Green, Isaiah Todd and Daishen Nix, as per Shams Charania of The Athletic.

“Kai Sotto — a 7-foot-2 center from the Philippines — has decided to skip college and will be the first international draft prospect to sign a deal in the NBA G League pro program, sources tell @TheAthleticNBA @Stadium,” Charania tweeted Monday.

The Fil-American Green, the top recruit in the 2020 class, was the first to go with the G League’s developmental program despite having offers from several high-caliber US NCAA Division 1 schools.

Sotto, who turned 18 Monday, is ranked 62nd in ESPN’s Top 100 high school players in the 2020 class and 11th best in his position.

The former Ateneo high school star has been training in the US since last year as he hopes to become the first full-blooded Filipino to make the NBA.
