The Philippines’ own karate kid?

Meet nine-year-old Nathaniel Gayares, already a Taekwondo red belt holder.

Nathaniel, a Cavite native, started kicking his way to martial arts when he was six and at this early stage has won several competitions.

He bagged one gold medal each in a Cavite City tournament on December of 2010 and in a Tagaytay City tournament May of last year.

Nathaniel, who represents the Montea Cavite Tkd club, wasn’t done as he also took home the bronze medal at the La Salle Dasmarinas tournament against all junior black belters.

Like every aspiring athlete, Nathaniel aims to take his game to greater heights by someday able to compete in contests outside the country.
