KART Wreckers, bannered by Gabriel Cabrera, Raymond Cudala, Dylan Arambulo and Draeco Abalajon, proved their worth with impressive victories in the kickoff leg of the Petron Karting Super Series at the Carmona Racetrack in Carmona, Cavite, recently.
Not even a bent chassis could prevent Cabrera from topping the Mini-ROK class, prevailing in the pre-final with a clocking of 49.66 seconds and the final race in 53.24 seconds.
Cudala came through with a runner-up finish in the Formula SL Novice class. Things could have been different for Cudala had he not collided with another karter early in the race.
But he rallied impressively, working his way up from the grid and clocking the best time in the finals at 53.3 seconds.
For his part, Arambulo wound up second in the qualifying heat before topping the pre-finals with a time of 59.25.
The prospects looked good for Arambulo in the Cadet Expert class before he figured in a collision that also forced him back to the grid.
Abalajon made his presence felt in the Cadet class, showing up his older, more experienced rivals by breaching the 54-second mark.
The Kart Wreckers, whose name was adapted from the Cam Wreckers—the first motor racing club in the country—are backed by Fern-C, Seaoil, Radiant Systems, Buendia Color Paint Center, Ministop VIP Suites and Uno Magazine.
The series shifts to the Batangas Racing Circuit in Rosario, Batangas, next month. Cedelf P. Tupas
