Now available: Online rehabilitation therapy services for athletes
Adapting with the times, the Philippine Sports Commission’s Sports Rehabilitation Unit (PSC-SRU) has begun offering online consultation services for national athletes and coaches.
Dubbed “TeleRehab,” the PSC-SRU hopes to provide physiotherapeutic services despite the limitations brought by the coronavirus pandemic.
“It’s been a very challenging experience for us, this COVID-19, because we are not able to perform our usual services due to the social distancing protocols,” SRU’s Rico Barin told the Inquirer on Friday.

Aside from mental health and nutrition, rehabilitative therapy has become one of the prominent challenges athletes are facing during this global health crisis.
In a previous interview with the Inquirer, Philippine Basketball Association coach Nash Racela said his Blackwater Elite has been slowly adjusting to therapy woes as rehabilitation centers have been shuttered, while most hospitals have put in place stringent admission protocols during the enhanced community quarantine.
