LA Tenorio delivers timely assists during pandemic
MANILA, Philippines — LA Tenorio, one of the PBA’s best playmakers ever, continued to dish out timely assists amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Just recently, the Barangay Ginebra star was able to raise funds for the PBA’s game-day personnel hit hard by the league shutdown due to the lockdown.
“A lot of people are in need of help during these times. And as someone who is able to reach out, I’m doing everything I can to help,” Tenorio said in Filipino in a story on the PBA website.
Tenorio, a five-time PBA champion, collected a total of P86,200 after auctioning off shoes and memorabilia through the Facebook Life with the Arellanos page of celebrity Drew Arellano.
The 35-year-old Tenorio also intends to provide food packs to security guards and utility staff of Upper Deck where the Gin Kings hold their practices.
He also plans to donate sacks of rice to the Office of the Vice Mayor in Pasig City.
“The money raised at auction was just a small amount so I’m just going to personally provide more if needed. It’s always a great feeling when we’re able to help,” he said.
Tenorio said a portion of the proceeds from auction will also be dedicated to the league’s ballboys.
“They (ballboys) also need our help so we’re going to help them as well.”
