Ginebra, San Miguel, Magnolia players undergo COVID-19 testing

MANILA, Philippines—Players and officials of three PBA teams underwent COVID-19 testing as part of its mother company’s protocol in ensuring the safety of all those employed under its umbrella.

San Miguel Corporation ball clubs in the PBA namely San Miguel, Magnolia, and Barangay Ginebra had all of its members get tested for the virus as per PBA.ph.

“Yes all of our players and coaches got tested,” said Beermen team manager Gee Abanilla. “It was alright. A bit uncomfortable but bearable. No need to get scared of.”

SMC tested its employees in anticipation of the reopening of its offices and workplaces.

“Currently, we are working with partner laboratories to process the tests, but once our lab is up, we expect to be able to process more tests quickly so we don’t burden the system and we can take care of our employees,” said SMC President Ramon S. Ang.

The three teams have also been active in helping out in COVID-19 relief efforts. The Gin Kings recently helped repack face masks and other health equipment that were distributed to 16 hospitals in the country.
