PBA D-League: Pacific Pipes nips Erase Plantcenta

MANILA, Philippines—Raymond Ilagan knocked down the go-ahead basket to give RnW Pacific Pipes a 74-73 win over Erase Plantcenta Tuesday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Ilagan hit a jump hook that set the final count with 1:07 left as the Steel Masters went on to chalk up their second straight win for a 2-2 record.

“He (Ilagan) is really my main man,” said RnW coach Pido Jarencio. “He has potential and tonight he was aggressive.”

Ilagan had a game-high in points and rebounds with 21 and 12 respectively. He also added three steals and one block.

Jarencio was pleased with how his team held on defensively but still said that there’s still a lot to work on.

“We still have a lot of lapses. We’re still in the process of knowing each other,” said Jarencio, who is also the head coach of the University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP.

“But as we move ahead there’s progress and somehow we have managed to win in the end game,” added Jarencio. “It’s a big morale booster for the team.”

Anthony del Rio failed to bail out Erase Plantcenta with a three-point attempt that sailed right.

Macky Acosta and Jayvee Ferreria had 17 points each.
