MANILA, Philippines—Players and personnel of the teams under the MVP group in the PBA all have tested negative for COVID-19 after they underwent rapid testing.

“All are negative,” said TnT team manager Gabby Cui in a story on the league’s official website. The KaTropa underwent testing June 8 while Meralco and NLEX had done it earlier.

San Miguel, Magnolia, and Barangay Ginebra also had their players and personnel tested for the coronavirus disease earlier this month. No one tested positive.

This is a welcome development for the PBA, which is hoping to get approval from the government to allow the teams to resume its practices.

Inter-Agency Task Force for Managing Emerging Infectious Diseases  (IATF-IED) has not given the go signal for contact sports like basketball activities to resume while lockdown protocols are still in place.

PBA employees and staff also underwent swab testing and all results came out negative.
