Jimmy Alapag finds rare video of his only dunk in PBA

MANILA, Philippines — Known for his playmaking and outside shooting and leadership, Jimmy Alapag reminded basketball fans that he could throw it down as well.

Alapag on Tuesday finally found the clip he had long been looking for—a rare video of him dunking during his younger years in the PBA.

In the video he shared on his Instagram, the 5-foot-9 Alapag followed up a missed layup by Willie Miller with an emphatic two-handed dunk off a fastbreak.

“Happened only ONCE in my 14-year career and only took about 15 years to find the video,” Alapag said with a laugh on his Instagram. “But man this brings back a great memory.”

The six-time PBA champion and one-time MVP retired in 2016 as one of the most revered players of his generation.

Apart from his countless PBA accolades, Alapag, the former Gilas Pilipinas captain, is also a legendary figure in national team play with a silver medal in the 2013 Fiba Asia Championship that also secured the Philippines a spot back into the World Cup in 2014 for the first time in 40 years.
