Roger Gorayeb now cancer-free
MANILA, Philippines — Roger Gorayeb has won countless crucial games throughout his legendary coaching career, but his biggest victory so far came outside the volleyball court after beating cancer.
Gorayeb, the former national team head coach, underwent eight cycles of therapy and four months of dialysis to recover from multiple myeloma, a type of cancer that forms in the plasma cells responsible for making antibodies.

“Of course the doctors don’t want to be complacent and I will have my final session on July 1. A week after that I’ll be tested again and if it’s negative again then I’ll just be on maintenance. Hopefully, it won’t return,” added Gorayeb.
