Lillard is once again having an impressive year for the Blazers, averaging 28.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game this season before the coronavirus pandemic halted play back in mid-March.
“It means a lot. I think it’s one of those things like the signature shoe, you know, everybody just don’t get it. So to be able to join the line of players, is an honor,” Lillard told The Athletic’s Shams Carania.
Reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks was the cover athlete last year while former Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade graced the cover for the game’s Legend Edition.
Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James have also been cover athletes in the past.
