MANILA, Philippines—As a tribute to the late great Kobe Bryant, the Hall of Famer is set to grace the third and final covers of NBA 2K21 dubbed as the “Mamba Forever” edition.
The NBA video game announced the two covers of the Lakers legend on Friday with the Current Generation consoles getting the image of Bryant in his no.8 jersey.
Wearing the no.24 jersey for the latter half of his career, Bryant’s portrait during his retirement game in 2016 will grace the cover for the Next Generation consoles.
This is Bryant’s third time as cover athlete after he became the poster boy for NBA 2K10 and and NBA 2K17 Legend Edition.
Damian Lillard and Zion Williamson were also chosen as the cover athletes of the regular editions for the Current and Next Generations, respectively.
Bryant and daughter Gianna were among the nine people who died in a helicopter crash in Los Angeles in January.
Bryant amassed a legendary 20-year career that included five NBA titles, two Finals MVPs, the 2008 regular season MVP, 18 All-Star Game appearances, and 33,643 points making him the league’s no.4 scorer of all time.
