No upset as Mark Bernaldez bows to taller Albert Bell
MANILA, Philippines—Mark Bernaldez disappointed in his Las Vegas debut after losing to the much taller Albert Bell via unanimous decision in their 10-round lightweight bout at The Bubble inside MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
All three judges scored the bout 100-90.
Article continues after this advertisementThe 6-foot Bell was six inches taller than Bernaldez and used that massive reach advantage, 73″-67″, to maintain control against the outworked Filipino.
Bernaldez, who managed to find the target 46 out of 319 times (14%), tried his hardest to close the distance but Bell was simply more efficient at putting the Filipino at bay, landing 125 of 418 of his punches (30%).
Bernaldez, who hails from General Santos City, also absorbed 29 blows to the body, 11 more than what he could muster.
