MANILA, Philippines—Mark Bernaldez disappointed in his Las Vegas debut after losing to the much taller Albert Bell via unanimous decision in their 10-round lightweight bout at The Bubble inside MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
All three judges scored the bout 100-90.
The 6-foot Bell was six inches taller than Bernaldez and used that massive reach advantage, 73″-67″, to maintain control against the outworked Filipino.
Bernaldez, who managed to find the target 46 out of 319 times (14%), tried his hardest to close the distance but Bell was simply more efficient at putting the Filipino at bay, landing 125 of 418 of his punches (30%).
Bernaldez, who hails from General Santos City, also absorbed 29 blows to the body, 11 more than what he could muster.
Bell improved his winning streak to 17 matches against zero losses while Bernaldez (20-4) has now lost three of his last six bouts.
