GAME SUNDAY
(Maba Stadium, Malaysia)
3 p.m.—Westports Malaysia vs San Miguel

San Miguel Beer  will parade Nick Fazekas, the 34th overall pick in the 2007 NBA draft, when they face Westports Malaysia in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) Sunday at the Maba Stadium in Kuala Lumpur.

The 6-foot-11 Fazekas arrived in Manila on Tuesday to join the Beermen’s practice.   Fazekas also played for Petron Blaze in the PBA but was sacked with two games left in the Boosters’ elimination round schedule.

“Nick is a great player but it’s a matter of how quickly he can jell with the team,” said San Miguel coach Bobby Parks.  “I think he will be able to compliment Duke Crews who is more of a scorer.”

The Beermen are coming off a 71-69 win over the Indonesia Warriors on the road on March 31.

Leo Avenido came up big again for the Beermen, making the game winning layup to secure the Beermen’s 11th win. Crews finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds in his debut with the Beermen.

Parks will be hoping that the third time’s a charm as they have lost their first two meetings against the Dragons. Their last match on Feb. 25 saw the Dragons posting a 73-70 victory at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

The Dragons are currently on a five-game losing streak after going down, 70-81, to the Singapore Slingers last April 1.
