Fil-Am player Sage Tolentino in contact with University of Kentucky

MANILA, Philippines–Sage Tolentino, one of the top amateur prospects for the Philippine national team, is reportedly on the radar of the University of Kentucky, one of the top collegiate programs in the US NCAA.

UK has been in “consistent contact” with the 7-foot-1 beanpole according to a tweet by Jack Pilgrim of Kentucky Sports Radio, an outfit reporting on the State’s recruiting trail.

The 16-year-old Tolentino, who plays basketball in Hawaii, is regarded as a “future addition” for Gilas’ talent pool for the 2023 Fiba World Cup here.

The Wildcats’ associate head coach Kenny Payne is talking to him on a daily basis while Auburn University is also interested in Tolentino according to the report, which was picked up by Hawaii Prep World.

Tolentino also posted the article on his Instagram page, which earlier showed him alongside NBA G League signee Kai Sotto.

The pair of towering athletes figured in a private workout in Cincinnati, Ohio, and footage of their session has since been posted by popular basketball social media accounts.

Tolentino and Sotto were also shown spending time together in a photograph posted by East-West Private, the firm looking after the latter’s preparations in the US.

“Some big things are happening for Sage,” Tolentino’s mother Becky said in the interview.

The lanky big man helped steer the Maryknoll Spartans to back-to-back State championships.

Tolentino, barring any complications, could help form a formidable front court for the national five.
