MANILA, Philippines—Beleaguered center Greg Slaughter signed with European sports agency BeoBasket in a move that could potentially open up a career path overseas.
The 7-foot center announced on Instagram that he linked up with BeoBasket founder Miško Ražnatović to become the first Filipino athlete in the agency’s roster.
“I am very happy to announce that I’ve signed with @misko4raznatovic, owner of BeoBasket, the biggest international basketball agency in the world,” wrote Slaughter. “They represent many athletes whom I greatly admire that compete in the NBA, EuroLeague, and Asia.”
BeoBasket’s biggest client is Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic but it also represents Dallas Mavericks big man Boban Marjanovic, Phoenix Suns forward Dario Saric, and Cleveland Cavaliers wingman Cedi Osman.
Other notable players signed with BeoBasket are Goga Bitadze of the Indiana Pacers, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot of the Brooklyn Nets, Ivica Zubac of the Los Angeles Clippers, and 3×3 icon Dusan Bulut.
“I am extremely honored to be the first Filipino player in their roster. Wherever my journey takes me, I will always proudly represent the Philippines, especially our national team,” said Slaughter.
“I will forever be humbled by the opportunities basketball and its fans have given me.”
Slaughter has been without a contract since February and has been training in the United States for the time being.
A former Gilas program center, Slaughter helped the Gin Kings to four titles and was named the Best Player of the Conference in the 2017 Governors’ Cup.
