PSC locks down Rizal Memorial, Philsports facilities as staff tests positive

MANILA, Philippines — The Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila and the Philsports Complex in Pasig will be on indefinite lockdown beginning Wednesday, the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) announced.

The PSC shut down its two facilities after a staff member tested positive for the coronavirus disease four days after undergoing swab test.

The PSC quickly conducted disinfection on Wednesday.

“We are thankful because they readily helped. We wanted to make sure that we do proper disinfection of the offices,” said PSC executive director Atty. Guillermo Iroy.

The PSC also expressed its gratitude to the NSAs including the Philippine Swimming Inc. (PSI), Philippine Table Tennis Federation (PTTF), Pilipinas Sepak Takraw Association Inc, among others, who extended their support by donating health and safety equipment for the agency’s frontliners and stranded athletes and coaches.

The two venues have been transformed into quarantine facilities and were opened for COVID-19 patients last May.
