Carlos Yulo gets PSC help
The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) approved the request of Carlos Yulo for an additional P3.2-million financial assistance, assuring the gymnastics world champion that he can go on training uninterrupted for next year’s Tokyo Olympics. According to Gymnastics Association of the Philippines, which made the monetary appeal on Yulo’s behalf, the PSC’s assistance will cover his living expenses and training needs, among others. Miscellaneous expenditures include the payment for the two gymnastics facilities where Yulo has been practicing daily with his Japanese coach Munehiro Kugimiya. PSC Commissioner Ramon Fernandez said that the agency likewise forked P3.5 million to sustain the training and living allowances of pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena in Italy. Boxers Eumir Marcial and Irish Magno are also expected to be recipients of the PSC’s financial assistance.—JUNE NAVARRO
