National University (NU) parted ways with coach Goldwin Monteverde on Sunday night as it aims to rebuild its programs, including the successful juniors’ team that just won back-to-back UAAP crowns.
Monteverde was hired late last year to replace Jamike Jarin as the head coach of the seniors’ team that last won a championship in 2014, a move seen as a way to ensure a seamless transition for their standouts in the juniors division to the collegiate ranks.
But just eight months later and without even coaching a single game for the Bulldogs, Monteverde was shown the door after his resignation was accepted by the school’s management, the Inquirer learned.
Monteverde, who a source said does not have a contract with NU, was also relieved of his duties for the powerhouse high school team.
“He has already resigned and it was only accepted this weekend,” said a source close to Monteverde.
