MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala hardly missed a beat in her first stint since the coronavirus pandemic and emerged on top of the XXXII Circuit Illes Baleats Toni Nadal Heliocare tournament in Mallorca, Spain.
Eala overwhelmed Matilda Mutavdzic of Great Britain in the final to rule the competition.
In a Facebook post, Eala said it felt “good to be back in competition.”
Eala, the 2020 Australian Open doubles winner, is set to return to action in the upcoming ITF Grade 2 and Grade 1 tournaments in Hungary next month.
The world junior No. 4 will also play in the French Open, which had been pushed back in October due to the pandemic.
Eala and her brother Miko are both scholars at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Spain.
