MANILA, Philippines — Incoming sophomore Rhenz Abando is headed to Letran College, an unimpeachable source told the Inquirer on Monday.
Abando was among the members of the Growling Tigers who bolted the team after its controversial training camp in Sorsogon City was put to light last month.
The development corroborates earlier claims by different Inquirer sources that the athletic La Union native is indeed joining Knights, the defending champions of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) men’s basketball tournament.
A person familiar with the situation said that the Tigers’ training, which is now being elevated to the Department of Justice and Department of Local and Interior Government, was among the reasons for his move.
Abando joins his former teammates at Santo Tomas, Brent Paraiso, and Ira Bataller, who, according to another Inquirer source, said have already enrolled in the school.
