Draymond Green giving away hundreds of shoes in hometown
SAGINAW, Michigan — NBA star Draymond Green is putting shoes on the feet of hundreds of kids in his Michigan hometown.
Green is offering 550 pairs of Converse shoes to Saginaw students Thursday at the First Ward Community Center, MLive.com reported.
Article continues after this advertisement“Draymond has never forgotten where he comes from. He loves this city,” said Eric Henderson, who helps lead an education program at the center.
Students will get a pickup time after they register.
“Because of COVID, we can’t have everybody in the building. … They don’t have to get out of their cars,” Henderson said.
Article continues after this advertisementGreen, who played at Saginaw High and Michigan State before winning three NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors, won’t be attending the event.
“I’d rather he not come right now. I’d hate to put him in a situation where he ends up in a 14-day quarantine,” Henderson said.
