Muntinlupa cops Big League plum

THE MUNTINLUPA team copped the Big League Division championship in the 2012 Little League Philippine Series yesterday at the Parade Grounds of Clark Freeport Zone.

Behind pitcher Carlos Muñoz’s no-hitter over four innings, MLL Big leaguers, aged 16 to 18, clobbered Antipolo, 19-0.

In the semifinals last Friday, MLL trounced defending champion ILLAM,

13-3, while Antipolo routed traditional powerhouse Tanauan, 10-0.

Coached by Iking Jimenez, the MLL batters jumped to a 10-0 lead right in the first inning. Antipolo conceded the game in the fourth after MLL nearly doubled the margin behind power hitters Dio Remollo, Paco Tantuico, Luis Puno, Justin Mathay, Quito Castro and Ado Iñigo.

Muntinlupa will represent the Philippines in the Regional Little League Series in Guam on the last week of June.
