After delay, Mark Striegl set to make UFC debut vs Khabib’s cousin

MANILA, Philippines—Mark Striegl’s UFC debut is finally set after the the Filipino-American martial artist recovered from COVID-19.

A month after his debut in the company got scrapped, Striegl apparently received his medical clearance to compete and will feature in the undercard of UFC Fight Night: Ortega vs. Korean Zombie.

“I’m back on October 17th,” posted Striegl on social media. “Thank you UFC and Ruby Sports & Entertainment for the quick turnaround. Let’s go!”

Striegl (18-2) will take on Said Nurmagomedov  in a three-round bantamweight bout at UFC’s Fight Island in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.

Nurmagomedov is the younger cousin of UFC World lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Striegl, who won a gold medal in the sambo competition of the 2019 Southeast Asian Games,  was originally set to face Russia’s Timur Valiev in August but the bout was scrapped after he tested positive for COVID-19.
