Laurel eyes beach tourney for volleyball resumption
The Philippine Superliga (PSL) is hoping to resuscitate volleyball through a much more manageable plan.
A proposal for a three-day beach volleyball tournament in Subic, Zambales province, has now been forwarded to government health authorities for its approval, according to Ian Laurel, the league’s president.
“The [proposal] was well-received … and they said will elevate it or we could go directly to the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases for approval,” he told former PBA chief Noli Eala in Saturday’s episode of “Power & Play.”

“We had to think outside the box and figure something out. So we came up with beach volleyball,” said Laurel, who patterned volleyball’s comeback efforts after the PBA.
