MANILA, Philippines — Greg Slaughter said he is set to meet with Barangay Ginebra head coach Tim Cone as he mulls over his options after taking a surprise sabbatical last February.

Slaughter returned to Manila on Tuesday after training in the United States for the past eight months—which allowed him to “rediscover what kind of player I was.”

“I had a contract till January and expired and I thought it was a good time to take time for myself to kind of rediscover myself, rediscover what kind of player I was, work on the things I needed to do, and now that I’ve had all this great training, I’m recharged, I’m ready to go. Mentally and physically refreshed,” he said appearing on an episode of Power and Play with former PBA commissioner Noli Eala.

“At the moment, I’ve been in contact with coach Tim and at the moment, we’re gonna have a meeting, but right now I’m just waiting on Ginebra to get back to me with a firm date but I’m ready to go.”

The 32-year-old center remains open to returning with the Gin Kings, whom he helped win four PBA titles, although it’s not the only basketball move he’s considering.

“I’m open to all possibilities. My level of play has elevated, so there has been interest also with other teams abroad,” he said.

“But at the moment, with respect to Ginebra and everything, all the experiences we’ve been through, I definitely want to talk to them before I make my final decisions and as of the moment, I’m just waiting to meet with them.”
